Product information "Galvanitas S 17 bar stool"
The best-known model, a design classic from the 1950s produced by Galvanitas, is the S16, the so-called Revolt chair, which
was designed by Fisco Kramer in 1953 for Ahrend, NL. The S17 is a no less well-known model from 1966, which
impresses with its stackability and was therefore frequently used in public buildings, meeting rooms and canteens at the time.
These models were style icons of their time and with the S17 you are once again acquiring a chair with an urban, industrial look.
The frame is made of folded sheet steel. The seat and backrest are moulded parts that are produced using a laminate synthetic resin pressing process.
Many thin resin-impregnated beech veneers and the resin-impregnated decorative papers of the surfaces are cured at approx. 150 degrees and 500 tonnes of pressure in a pressing process
in such a way that the material is permanently bonded to form a homogeneous and dimensionally stable material.
The surface finish is applied during the pressing process and not afterwards.
During the pressing process, it is specified whether the surface should be smooth or non-slip textured, matt or glossy. This process
combines the advantages of plastic with the beauty of real wood.
